Why Live2Worship?

It’s Why We’re Here…

I’m getting ready to share something with you that might will amaze you. I know, because it amazed me when I first made the realization. So much so that it literally changed my life.

What realization you ask?

The realization that everything I thought I “knew”…all of my paradigms for life, faith, even most of the foundations for the stuff I learned in school growing up as a kid…they were all wrong.

But…wait…I’m getting ahead of myself. Back to the topic at hand, why does this site, Live2Worship, exist?

Because Some Are Searching…But Even More Because Most Aren’t.

One of the benefits of doing what I’ve done for a living for the past 15 years (all things web…with a specialization in online marketing) is that I’ve learned some cool tricks and gained access to some cool software. One such piece of software allows me to type in a root word or phrase and see what people are actually searching for around that word or phrase. So as I was preparing to launch this site I was using the tool to do some keyword research and decided to see when people type search on or about God, what are they actually searching for. Here’s what I found:

People typed the word god about 45,500,000 times in January 2010. That’s a lot. Works out to about 1.52 million times per day or about 63,000 times per hour! Now this is interesting, but let me share with you some other phrases and counts for January 2010.

God Keywords

As you can see it’s pretty much a good news story with the exception of “is god real” and even that is someone that has had a seed planted at some point in the past that is starting to bloom. Also, being a worship leader, I was happily surprised to see almost a quarter of a million searches per month for praising and worshiping god. So this got me started thinking, I wonder what people want to know more about when it comes to god. So my next search was to find out what people were looking for when they typed the word how, to and god in the same search. Here are the results:

Interesting…and a bit sad at the same time huh?

In part, this site was created to help answer some of these questions in the hope that their relationship with God would be stronger.  But there’s another equally important (if not more urgent) reason I created this blog.  And that is that I believe that a lot of Christians are sleeping and I’m hoping that the content on this blog can challenge them and stir them to take their faith in Christ more seriously on a daily basis and live more intentionally for Christ Jesus. This spiritual lethargy is what Paul was speaking to when he wrote:

Romans 13:11-14 (NLT)
11 This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. 1314 Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.
Eph. 5:14
…This is why it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

When I say sleeping I also mean that I believe that many Christians might be asleep in the sense that they are not prepared for Jesus’ soon return.

Mark 13:35-36 (NLT)
35 You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return—in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak. 36Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning.

When Paul corresponded with the brothers in Thessalonica, he warned about a false sense of security. Folks will be relaxing in a delusional state of “peace and safety,” when suddenly destruction will come upon them. And so he admonished: “… let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober” (1 Thes. 5:3-6). To be awake is thus to be vigilant, ever prepared.  That passage is so important I’ve included it below.

1 Thessalonians 5:3-6

3 When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.
4 But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief.[a] 5 For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. 6 So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

Are You Asleep…Really Be Honest?

Let me ask you some questions…

  • Do you struggle to believe as 2 Timothy 3:16 says that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” so much so that when you need advice and help you turn to the Lord via the word instead of Google with a question?  And I mean all of it, burning bush, Jonah in the whale, people being raised from the dead and all?
  • If you have kids, do you struggle to regularly spend time in the Word together learning and “Train up a child in the way he should go;” so that “even when he is old he will not depart from it.”?
  • Do you want to ENJOY reading and studying the word of God but find that really you don’t and even when you do it, it’s more because you know you ought to rather than genuine excitement to spend time with God?  Do you use it to start, direct and end your conversations and prayer with God?
  • Do you allow God’s name to be taken in vain around you either in a movie or social situation and simply shrug it off?
  • Do you try but fail to sensor and filter all that you see, hear and subject your body to as if you were subjecting the Lord to the same stimuli?  This includes music with impure message (not just bad language), movies and even your friends/co-workers?
  • Do you try so hard to fit in the world view and system that you’ve crowded out time in your schedule and money in your budget for Kingdom stuff?
  • If you’re a parent, have you allowed the world to tell you what toys/gadgets, activities and personalities your children must have to be considered cool or not be called a freak?

While there are many other questions I could ask, I opened this page telling you that I was going to share something with you that might amaze you as it did me.

So what is that big reveal?

Here goes…if you answered yes to any of those questions you are in some level of sleep as it pertains to the Kingdom.  Now before I get a ton of emails or comments asking who made me the test maker for the litmus test on sleep, I acknowledge that this list of questions is not complete and might miss some things. And, no, I’m not the test maker for this stuff, God is and it’s right in His word.

But one thing is true…it’s important to know and realize where your relationship with Christ stands.  Why?  Matthew 7 makes it crystal clear why this is so critical:

Matthew 7:13

13“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell[a] is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.14But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.

Matthew 7:15

15“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. 16You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act.

Matthew 7:20-23

20Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

True Disciples

21“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.22On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’23But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

“I never knew you.  Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.”  WOW.  I can tell you with a great deal of certainty, that is the LAST thing I would ever want to hear my Lord say to me.  See I can say I know Barack Obama, but it won’t matter much how much I know him when I try to get in the White House will it.  The only thing that will matter is if he knows me.

I got this wake up call a little over 2 years ago and as I mentioned it changed my life and it shook me to the core.  But I thank God for it, cause now I can safely say that while I’m not 100% awake all the time, I’m gaining ground and taking back territory on a proactive basis from the enemy.  And that’s what I want to help you do and anyone else you know who needs to be woken up and shaken to the core.  Live2Worship is about so much more than worship, it’s about putting on Christ and living for Him and Him alone.

So what are you waiting for…dig in and break free from the world as God tells us to do in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18

2 Corinthians 6:17-18
17 Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.[f]
18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.[g]
